gather in quiet communion at the Columbia Friends Meeting on Sunday, September
16, 2001. According to Murray, almost twice as many people attended the meeting
in the week following the terrorist attacks. The congregation remained completely
silent for more than thirty minutes as members prayed for those who had fallen.
